RETREAT:
Restorative yoga & SOUNDs
with Sandhi IRVINE
Restorative Yoga involves long restful fully supported postures using props. This provides comfort and ease of breath, creating a quiet invitation to release tension and stress from a place of stillness.
Gentle guided Pranayama (breathing) meditations open our awareness to the felt resonant vibrations of crystal bowls, and mantra… cultivating the awareness to access a calm nervous system that provides opportunity for attunement to the subtle body.
These meditations are accompanied with the gentle sounds and an orchestral array of crystal quartz singing bowls tuned at 432Hz and other gentle sounds for listeners to receive an intuitive soundscape channeled in the moment. Through hearing & feeling the harmonic vibrations of sound, your body is invited to experience deeper states of rest, stillness, and connection.
No previous yoga experience necessary. All props are provided, however; your own blanket, eye-pillow, and yoga mat are recommended. Dress in warm layers to accommodate changes in body temperature.

NADA translates to “sound”, describing vibration of the subtle body.
NADA YOGA practice that focuses on transformation through sound.
PARA NADA the highest of the four levels of sound in the universe; transcendental sound that is beyond hearing or the mind’s understanding and is infinite. The other levels of nada are:
- Vaikhari – This is sound that is audible to the human ear.
- Madhyama – This sound is heard in the mind.
- Pashyanti – This is a sound that is perceived visually.
WORKSHOP:
explore the ARTIFACTS
with Micheal & Sandhi
42” Wind Gong, 432Hz tuned quartz crystal bowls, and oh so many other elementals of soundscape. We will walk with you through an in-depth exploration of these artifacts and their sounds, your responses, and how to approach a “SoundBath, Sound Journey, Sound meditation, Sound immersion, or whatever” as a safe and joyful experience for you.
This is an easy & relaxed way to dig in and have conversation with experienced practitioners around the multitudes of sounds, and plumb our brains for the content you desire.
Suitable for beginners and the experienced, no yoga study is necessary to participate. Bringing a blanket and mat to lie on are recommended. Dress in warm layers to accommodate changes in body temperature.

For all practitioners wanting to deepen their experience of yoga, and can be used for YA (Yoga Alliance) continuing education contact-hours for certified Teachers.
It is said these artifacts produce the whole sounds of the Universe, and through this precise resonance heal wherever it is needed. Through hearing and feeling these vibrations of sound, you are invited to experience deeper states of rest, stillness, meditation, and connection.
CERTIFICATION:
SOUND BATH facilitator
with Sandhi IRVINE
OK, so maaaaybe I make it look easy… and I will walk with you as you find your own unique way of expression with sounds, and sound bathing; practice and facilitation.
Hz, the artifacts themselves & how to build relationships with them, Vedic myth/Gregorian astrology and the influence of the moon, myth/evidence of chakras/health&healing, the Schumann resonance, binaural beats… there’s a lot we can cover together as well as play with the instruments. I’m happily able to bend our content toward the interests of the group, questions are golden. In this way each immersion will have it’s own personality and discovery as you learn in the container of each other as well.
At the end of completing LEVEL II you will have 20 comprehensive in-person hours and receive a certificate from me (a Certified YA Continuing Educator), but the most valuable part of this is beyond a certification; it is that you find your direction & confidence with the principles of holding safe spaces for your people, and joy in the constant exploration of the art of creating soundscapes you can share.
No previous experience necessary. Instruments are available on-site, although you are welcome to bring your own. Your own blanket, eye-pillow, and yoga mat are also recommended.

For all practitioners wanting to deepen their experience of yoga, and can be used for YA (Yoga Alliance) continuing education contact-hours for certified Teachers.
LEVEL I foundation: introductions and orientations; you will receive guidance to lay the foundations of your own offerings and experiences. We explore ethical advertising, structuring and pacing, and of course the instruments/artifacts themselves.
LEVEL II immersion: a deep wander into the sidewinding mandelbrot of sound journeys; the building of your brand and ultimate goals & the intentions driving them.
Continuing 1:1 Mentorship: after completion of Level I & II you may want to dig deeper into certain facets of the wormhole; I will provide you access to my own experience as well as how to build your own wealth of resources to draw upon as you spread those wings and soar you glorious being!
I highly encourage you to visit my studio, attend a sound bath and ask questions to see if my style, approach and ethos aligns with you. If you feel a calling, please join this special training. It is my deep honour and pleasure to share what I have learned and carry forward the wisdom of my teachers.

WORKSHOP:
Kosas, Sutras, Astanga, Upanishads, Gunas, Karma, Kleshas…
with Sandhi IRVINE
WTAF is a Guna? Am I perceiving through my Kosas? What do you mean karma isn’t equal and opposite reaction? I haven’t even heard of a “Yoga Hatha Pradipika”. Why should any of these things matter to me? …I’m just at this yoga class to attain inner peace. How are these concepts even relevant to my asana practice?
Crash course on commonly used terms beyond the asana and their doorway into the deep culture of India that you may start to sense is behind this physical wellness stuff. Experience the mental & spiritual pretzeling of a Westerner discovering what these things could possibly have to do with your downward facing dog.

WORKSHOP:
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
with Sandhi IRVINE
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is familiar text to Modern yoga, yet contains little verse on asana (postures), this small aspect of yoga we have come to associate in the West as what “yoga” is. Explore how we arrived in this Modern yoga, and how to apply these mainstay sutras into your practice by aligning with what comes from exploring common and traditional meanings with what you think it is that you know about yoga.
2:46 “sthira sukham asananam” Yoga pose is a steady and comfortable position.
2:47 “prayatna saithilya ananta samapattibhyam” Yoga pose is mastered by relaxation of effort, lessening the tendency for restless breathing, and promoting an identification of oneself as living within the infinite breath of life.
2:48 “tatah dvandva anabhighatah” From that perfection of yoga posture, duality, such as reacting to praise and criticism, ceases to be a disturbance.

WORKSHOP:
Mantra, Chakra, Yantra, and the opening of a door to perception
with Sandhi IRVINE
Widen your senses with a deep dive into resonance, rhythm, pulse…
We’ll breathe together, guided through simple pranayama practice to begin to understand Nadi & Bandha, and also evoke some gentle movements of the body to explore the energy and wisdom that surfaces with the intentional being. The breath becomes like a back door to the peaceful mind.
Mantra/chanting can be viewed as a boat to carry you on the resonance of the syllables, from wherever it is you begin to a place of peace & clarity. We’ll explore Bija (seed) mantras as entrained with the somatic body & crystal bowls, and several common mantras found in Western yoga practice to weave Nada Yoga (the yoga of sound) into your being.
Yantras (sacred symbols) and Gong Bath are embedded into the workshop, as efficient guides to the visceral experience of resonance opening the doors of perception into altered states that may be experienced with these elements.

For all practitioners wanting to deepen their experience of yoga, and can be used for YA (Yoga Alliance) continuing education contact-hours for certified Teachers.
