Alignment. Tensegrity. Peace. My classes are intimate and difficult from a depth & experience of studying classical yoga traditions and modern practices in tandem; my teaching style gently puts pressure onto the ego in compassionate challenge to awaken the divine light within. I work within universal movement principles that may be applied to all styles of yoga.

moon
“moon” is named for this shared connection we can find through our simple journey of life on Earth from a comfortable perception of expansion… look to the sky and you may observe her luminous presence way over there! Waxing or waning, full or new: in all her phases she is whole. The sun & Earth influence what we may see of her, the tides influenced by her gravity… there are stories of her that run through all our human culture, and remembers us we are undeniably nature.
“I resonate with the beauty of the moon, and strive to honour what knowing is within me from this resonance. Recognizing natural cycles in ritual practice and ceremony; only events clearly centred around moon-lore will provide its specific content, but now you know about me in this way… and may catch glimpses through me of this cosmic alignment.” -Sandhi
“By the practice of samyama on the Moon, knowledge of the organization of the stars is given -III,28 Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as interpreted by Mukunda Stiles

May we be protected. May we be nourished. May we have the strength and courage to work. Enlighten our study. Let us not grow to hate each other. Om peace peace peace –Shanti Mantra as found in the Yajur Veda
Iyengar Yoga
“My body is my temple, the asanas are my prayers.” -Sri B.K.S. Iyengar
“Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning “to yoke”, as reference to the most profound union between the individual self and the universal self. Yoga is not a religion but a science and art, a philosophy that explores and promotes health on a spiritual, mental and physical level. The yoga asanas are postures designed to work the body from the inside out, thus promoting healthy glands and organs on the internal level. On the physical level, with regular dedicated practice the body becomes strong, agile and flexible. The body and mind learn to move in harmony as one unit and become absorbed in the infinite.
Sri B. K. S. Iyengar, a master of Yoga who lived in Pune, India (1918-2014), developed a style of yoga that is characterized in the practice of asana and pranayama with the innovative approach emphasizing precision and alignment, planned sequencing, timing, and the use of props, which helps the practitioner to achieve perfection in any asana. This approach has allowed people of varying ages, levels of health and fitness to enjoy the benefits of yoga, which a sustained practice can bring: the ability to face the physical, mental and emotional challenges of contemporary life with strength, vitality, mobility, thoughtfulness and equanimity. This intelligent practice develops our ability to grow and to separate what is worthwhile and productive from what to leave behind, and provides a framework to live in harmony with others, our environment and ourselves.” -from JNSyoga website (2017)
“The goal of my specialized yoga programs is to empower students to cultivate a sovereign responsibility for their own bodies, find and safely explore a sense of steadiness & ease, and build strength by learning the skills to do that with confidence.” -Sandhi
